Yesterday Congressman Joe Wilson talked to reporters about his claim that the President was lying about immigrants having access to health care subsidies under the President's health care plan. According to the NY Times: Im for immigration, [Wilson] said, adding that he had been an immigration lawyer, although he did not specify exactly what he had done. But people who come toour country and violated our laws, we should not be providing full services. It struck me immediately that this would be bizarre if true. Going from representing immigrants to being a member of the virulently anti-immigrant Immigration Reform Caucus...

Hi all,
Mine is Labor Substitution with EB2 India PD is April 2005 and with the same Employer since 5 years .
6 months back my case was moved to New York (I am working in NY as a consultant ) regional center where I am working now.
I have to move to NCarolina this month end for a new assignment. What should I do now?
If I inform USCIS thru AR-11, how much time they take to transfer my case to new regional office? Worried if they take long time and dates retrogress before they transfer.
How early can I apply AR-11 and how late I must inform them?
Anybody with similar experiences? Pleas suggest me the due course of action.

If your H1B approved as a part of change of status from L1, Your current status will be H1B (You can check that on new I94) from the date H1B starts. In this case, You lost your L1 status and you need to start working with H1B employer. You need to take advice from your H1B Lawyer.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$GOOD MORNING GC$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Deadline = April 30th, 2011
Goal = 5000 votes on survey (see I-485 filing w/o current PD thread) and momentum to continue with this campaign. The survey is a platform to gather and push for launching action items. Based on response by 04/30/2011 - IV will decide whether to even proceed with initiative or not.
Actions - 1) Vote on survey.
2)Email ivcoordinator@gmail.com with PD, ph#,email & subject "I485 filing impacted,
3)Print/Circulate Fliers and spread FB, wiki link (see "support thread")
This is a supporting thread to the "Want to File I-485 without Current Priority Date? Gather here" thread started by pappu.
As suggested by pappu/starsun, this supporting thread provides impacted members with additional information and tools to help the initiative.
Visit Immigration Voice Wiki (http://immigrationvoice.org/wiki/index.php/Employment_Based_Green_Card#Process_.28EB1.2C_EB2. 2C_and_EB3.29) - for overview of Employment Based - Green Card process
Visit I485 Filing w/o current PD Wiki (http://immigrationvoice.org/wiki/index.php/Current_Grass-Roots_Initiative_-_I-485_Filing_without_Current_Priority_Date) - for overview of this initiative
As pappu stated in the first post of the above referenced thread - some of the ongoing efforts include finding how many IV members would get benefit from such a provision and get basic details such as username/Priority Date of impacted members. Future action items might include drafting documents and letters to support this provision. There maybe actions such as sending emails etc. However we would not be able to open a public action item unless we can have thousands of our members willing to participate in a grassroots action item. This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.
The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What can you do to participate?
1) Vote on the poll/survey created by Pappu.
http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/forum14-members-forum/1599353-want-to-file-485-when-pd-is-not-current-gather-here.html
Then please send an email to ivcoordinator@gmail.com (starsun) with subject - "I485 filing without current PD - Impacted Member". Include your a) IV username b) Email address c) Phone #, d) State of Residence e) Priority Date - so that grassroot efforts can be coordinated
2) Print out below Flier and circulate at all asian/indian malls/groceries/theaters. Forward the flier to your friends/co-workers and ask them to do the same.

3) Volunteers have created a facebook community and an Immigration Voice WIKI page to spread the message about this initiative. Please circulate these links among your friends/co-workers who will be helped.

Op-Chart: A New, Improved Congress? (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/26/opinion/26mann.html) By THOMAS E. MANN, MOLLY REYNOLDS, and PETER HOEY | New York Times, August 26, 2007
Thomas E. Mann is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and the co-author of The Broken Branch. Molly Reynolds is a research assistant at Brookings. Peter Hoey is an illustrator in Arcata, Calif.
JUST before Congress adjourned for its August recess, Democrats engaged in a flurry of legislative activity, while Republicans complained about a do-nothing Congresss meager policy accomplishments. Deep partisan differences, narrow majorities and a Republican in the White House have frustrated Democratic ambitions and fueled a toxic atmosphere in both chambers of Congress. The publics low approval ratings reflect broad discontent with the direction of the country but also displeasure with Congress for failing to reverse course on Iraq and for continuing the bitter partisan warfare.
But has this really been a do-nothing Congress? The circumstances are similar to those in 1995, when a new Republican majority in both houses took office under a Democratic president. So perhaps the best question to ask is, how is this 110th Congress doing compared with the 104th Congress, in 1995?
Both new majorities began by spending more time in session, holding more committee meetings and roll call votes, and passing more substantive measures than the Congress before them had. At the same time, in both cases, the number of bills signed into law by the president from January to August dropped.
Still, the Democratic Congresss legislative harvest this year has been bountiful compared with that of its Republican counterpart in 1995. Back then, the Republicans Contract With America was stymied by opposition from the Senate and the president. The new Congress has enacted a far-reaching lobbying and ethics reform bill, an increase in the minimum wage, recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, foreign investment rules and a competitiveness package, and has embedded a number of major initiatives and new priorities in continuing and supplemental spending bills. Democrats also made headway on energy, childrens health insurance, college student loans, Head Start, drug safety and a farm bill though much of this awaits action in the Senate or in conference and faces a possible veto.
During the first seven months of 1995, Congressional oversight of the executive branch increased modestly in the Senate but not at all in the House. But this year Congress, especially the House, has intensified its oversight, following years of inattention and deference by its Republican predecessor.
Democratic promises to restore civility and regular parliamentary procedure by allowing the minority party a larger role in deliberations have foundered. The number of restrictive rules for debate has increased, and the conference process has been short-circuited on various occasions.
In the Senate, Republicans have made the filibuster, or the threat of filibuster, routine, setting a 60-vote hurdle for all contested legislative matters. This has led Harry Reid of Nevada, the majority leader, to file many more petitions for cloture than Bob Dole, his counterpart in 1995, did.
The chart below shows what the 110th Congress accomplished before it closed for its August recess, compared with its immediate predecessor and with the Republican Congress that took office in 1995.

The annual Consumer Electronics Show kicks off this week in Las Vegas. This is the gadget wonderland I've attended for the last several years. Due to my father's illness, I decided to skip this year's show. But I'm avidly watching online for announcements of the year's best new innovations. The show is put on by the Consumer Electronics Association and they've recently launched "The Innovation Movement" which seeks to encourage public policies that foster innovation and promote prosperity. The movement embraces a lot of issues and I'm pleased to see liberalizing immigration policies in the technology sector among the issues...

There is this para from Ron Gotcher's web-site:
Typically, visa backlogs are reduced by issuing visas and thus removing people from the demand list. In this case, the movement is due to decreased demand people with approved petitions on the waiting list simply arent applying for visas.
(Whole article here: Home - Information from the December Visa Bulletin (http://www.immigration-information.com/forums/content/190-information-december-visa-bulletin.html))
The article says that dates have moved forward because the people whose dates are current, have not applied for their visas
And suppose we could do the same -- if no one applies the gc even once the PD is current, there will be forward movement.... then WHAM! In one go, all could apply
Anyway, just a thought (or you may call pipe dream :) )

Hi,
I was working with a company in H1-b visa, and after 3 years renewed our H1 and H4 with the same company,
and both got extended upto 30th September 2011 . Later, i have transfered our H1 and H4 to a new company
in January 2009, and H1 extended from 10th January 2009 to 4th January 2012. After 3 months H4 approved
from 1st October 2011 to 4th January 2012.In short, H1 approved from the applied date of the last H1 to
4th January 2012, but H4 approved from the expiration date + 1 day of the previous H4 to 4th January 2012.
Since, i'm with a new employer what is the status of the H4 now. Looking for your valuable suggestions.
Thanks-H2G

HI!! I'm Aj ( more like Ahmet Jorayev). I was a student at the Georgia Military College. Unfortunately, due to lack of my personal funds, i lost my position of a student at GMC. Since January of this year i was not attending school because of exclusion. College informed of returning in Spring 2010 however they denied it later on. Currently I'm in deep depression because of losing my Academic and Immigration Status!!
IN order to reinstate I-20 visa i had to attend college. Sarcastic thing about this i had only 6month left to graduate.
Any advises or stories you can share please, help out!!
They have our future in their hands and instead of supporting, they disgrace us!!
Sincerely,
AJ
P.s. All payments for college comes straight from my pocket and no vehicle transportation either, just bicycle
