EB2 is the only hope for all EB3-I folks bcoz EB3-I is last in the chain to get any spillover so you should not have any hopes in next 5 years.
Dates will move one month per year for EB3-I in next 5 years unless a miracle happens.

Since this bill has EB based provisions and does not have controversial guest workers program, would it make more sense to support this bill if it were to be tabled on senate floor instead of Specter's bill? Especially since house is totally opposed to any bill which has a guest worker program.
Moderators and those involved with IV's lobbying firm give it a thought as this bill will be less controversial than specter's.

Employability has nothing to do with papers that prove how many years you spend on colleges accumalating degrees.

They are striking down AC21 provisions that provide extensions of H1 after 6 years based on pending labor for 1 one year or pending 140. And they are replacing it with pending immigration petition for 1 year as requirement for H1 extension. What that means is that there will be extensions granted to only those who have filed for 140 before May 21. After that, the 140s filed or approved would be invalid and they would have to wait for points system. And points system doesnt kick in until Oct 1 2008. So during the 1 year blackout period, between the President signing the bill and Oct 1 2008, there will be no immigration petitions filed. Old system will stop accepting 140 and new system (your favorite merits system) wont kick until Oct 2008. Combine that with removal of AC21 provisions for extensions of H1. There are tens of thousands who will be unable to extend their H1. These are the folks who are either in backlog centers or who have filed PERM but not filed 140 as of May 21 2007. Can you imagine the catastrophe? Go thru title 4 and title 5 and see the sections of INA it is amending.

As long as they are separated inside with rubber bands and cover sheets, this is OK. This is very typical of how most law firms do it. This is actually covered in tips on how to assemble your packet. You are fine.

I got 5 more friends from my Grad school to come forward and send letters.They said they will do it by Monday. With the new deadline I can approach more people. I am volunteering at a temple next weekend and I will take some templates there for signatures

I had a similar experience, i took matter with the consul general, other than making an apology in the written e-mail I dont think he took any steps in improving the Customer Service @ SFO consulate office. I sent them US postal Money order, so i dont think they duped me...it just cost me extra $20.
Babu mentality is still their for any Govt of india employee and no matter what position they are holding, they all behave same, very rude and corrupt minded, always looking for an opportunity to make quick bucks using their position. Though in your case if you would have write the money order or cashier's check in favor of the consul general, Govt of india account, i dont think they have any legal way to encash these check or money orders in favor of them.
I guess the fraud is when folks send them $20 bills, thats very easy way of stealing the money and especially when they send you the PIO card in the same original envelope which you sent. Something suspicious. Write to WAshington DC office and see if they take any action.

I agree, India is a far better option.
Assuming this discussion is about immigration/permanent-settlement and not about short term visits, work and study.
On the side note, The only problem faced in india is over population which triggers almost all other issues. If india implements onechildpolicy most of the problems faced today will disappear in few decades. Your child (note: singular) need not leave india to enjoy international level lifestyle & benefits.
As a backup plan to greencard advocacy we need to lobby the indian government to implement onechildpoilcy immediately.
No, Canada is not a better option. INDIA!! is a better option. You got to get it out of your mind that you need to go somewhere. It is different in the US because you have some industries and jobs here that you cannot get anywhere else. Also a certian lifestyle. But common Canada, eastern Europe, Africa... you guys are nuts.

The US Immigration Law is a nightmare.
Couple of years ago, I migrated to Australia.
The Australian laws are very clean and straight forward. There is only one application form with some very simple question and detailed instructions. Just fill up the form, enclose the necessary documents and fees. That's it. You are done. In due time they will let you know "YES" or "NO".
There is no need to feed fat-belly hungry sharks called "Immigration Attorneys" (of course there are exceptions).
Once your case is approved, you and your family are eligible for the all the rights (except Vioting Power) enjoyed by any Australian Citizen.
Once accepted, there is no official discrimination.
Here the US Government cries about anti-discrimination, human rights etc, but those are only eye-wash. They should take lessons from the Australians.

We have discussed a lot about things in this forum. Every person came up different thought, links etc and moreover our goal of adding I-485 in this feb bill.
After reading all the post mentioned by IV core, it is clear that no one can do anyting about it, there is no lobbyist that can force this to happen
So our struggle is useless, some may not agree to it because, they say they are pushing and trying to make voice that can be heard by the congress.
Congress did not listen to those million illegals on what grounds we expect our voice to be heard.
I say it again, our struggle is useless. When they wish then only something might happen.

I think the issue of Economic Stimulus Package and H-4 dependents is losing the momentum. Where is everyone????

at least can we not take any legal action for issuing out a rule (you can file MFS and get the stimuls and then amend MFJ) on 04/14/2008??? what about people who filed a long time ago as MFJ?? Because once you filed MFJ, the action is irrevocable!?! In my honest opinion, this stupidity of issuing out a clause the day before filing deadline deserves some "stir"!!
