I wonder... just wonder... Was the lack of any favorable items in CIR for either EB greencards or H1 B visas done with the knowledge that a week after the bills set back, all of a sudden a lot of people can apply for I485 (and hence take advantage of EAD/AP and eventually AC21 portability)...
Fishy...
Total speculation, obviously

Was ur application sent to Nebraska or Texas?
I understand they are forwarding some appls to Texas from Nebraska.
And Texas is much faster.
I got to know from my attorney that, USCIS has my I 140 information in their system and they gave him a receipt number. But, the receipt is not generated yet. It may take a week or so to get the receipt. My appl was filed on 12th and it reached NSC on 13th.
I checked the status online with this receipt # and online status shows that they recieved the aplication on 19th and its at Texas center. May be my appl was moved to Texas now.

That's why there is a saying that you should never watch sausages and laws being made.
The Cantwell amendment and Lieberman amendment will fail to pass the vote. It doesnt matter whether its ordered to lie on table or whether its ordered to take a nap on the table or have some lemonade on the table. And it doesnt matter what any of those "Motion to... " means.
Both of those amendments, if debated, will fail. It will take 10 seconds for Bernie Sanders, Ted Kennedy and Dick Durbin to scream on top of their lungs and kill it. And the reason is very simple. There is a massive H1B exemption ON TOP OF 180,000 QUOTA. People who have been so successful this year so far in restricting H1 and employment based GCs are not going to miss that nice little H1 exemption at the bottom of both these amendments. So stop scratching your heads over what the "lying on table" means, because whatever is lying on table is unpassable if it somehow awakes from the table and starts dancing in the well of the senate floor.

I recommend ww.usvisanews.com
Very responsive and efficient, from my experiance...
As I have said in an earlier post I highly recommend www.shusterman.com especially Ellie Njfabadi. The Best.
Another highly recommended person is John Dorer (para legal) -- www.usvisanow.com --- very very efficient and extremely cheap -- prices are 1/3 of what other law firms charges. Plus excellent reviews from all over.
Avoid Robert Lubin -- Good work but asks for money for every thing even to answer some simple question...
And again... no body can beat --- DO IT YOURSELF firm.

The US Immigration Law is a nightmare.
Couple of years ago, I migrated to Australia.
The Australian laws are very clean and straight forward. There is only one application form with some very simple question and detailed instructions. Just fill up the form, enclose the necessary documents and fees. That's it. You are done. In due time they will let you know "YES" or "NO".
There is no need to feed fat-belly hungry sharks called "Immigration Attorneys" (of course there are exceptions).
Once your case is approved, you and your family are eligible for the all the rights (except Vioting Power) enjoyed by any Australian Citizen.
Once accepted, there is no official discrimination.
Here the US Government cries about anti-discrimination, human rights etc, but those are only eye-wash. They should take lessons from the Australians.

In office, Palin hired friends and hit critics: Interviews indicate a governing style that uses loyalty and secrecy

I wonder who else has that style of governing with secrecy. Can anyone think of a name?

This guy's a congenital pessimist.
H-1B numbers did go up. Now also the numbers are going up to 115,000 and then 180,000. It is only GC numbers which are going down and down.

Hi,
I just got my H1B approved through company A with start date of 1st Oct 07.
Can a transfer the H1B to another company without working for company A?
I am in the US on H4 visa. I read that if you are in the US can transfer within 60 days of start date, and if you are outside US then within 30 days of start date. Is this true? Thank you all for your replies. It would be a big help!!

of course, a different visa type, discrimination built into the law.
Discrimination based on what though? That is the important question. To the best of my knowledge only australia has that advantage.

I wonder if anybody noticed the cyclic pattern of dates for EB3 India
Every time it hit Nov 2001, the dates were made unavailable and the cycle started again from early 2001.
I wonder what is going to happen next month??
I think the cycles will stop now... you should see a steady forward progress during the first 3 quarters & a jump (minor or major depends on spillover) in last quarter...

I am sure the awareness and the seriousness was missing among the locals!!
Educate them , that more imp.. this has to be worked on!
One thought I have is.. if we register people with a minimum amount and reimburse them at the day of the rally, many will turn up..!
I know of cases where people agreed to show up but when the d-day came by.. not one ticked!!

There is a different visa category for australians called E1, only THOSE ppl's spouses can work. If an australian is on an H1 his wife cannot work on an H4 either.
In that case you also have to argue, why H4's cant work but L2's can? :)
The Australian visa is called E3, not E1. E3 is like a simplified H1B that can be renewed indefinitely and yes, dependents can work anywhere. The filing process is quick and inexpensive. There is a quota of 10,000 per year, not including dependents. Given that Australia only uses a few thousand H1's a year, this is a very attractive visa.
In the Australian press it was implied that the US govt passed the E3 visa as payback for Australia's support in the Iraq war. Originally it was supposed to be part of a free trade agreement.

Seems to me , either you are paid by AF to defend them here or you are one of those who like pizza than roti. The moment these things happen to you , you will be shouting on top of your lungs but when it happens with your fellow countrymen you can't empathize.. are you so insensitive or just like to be French.
The 2 things I like about france is a french kiss and having a french kiss with a french chick
I find your quote to be insulting to a large group of persons, some of whom could be potential members of IV. If anyone had made such a comment about Telgu-speakers or Punjabi-speakers, there would be outrage.
Last I checked, this was not supposed to be desi-centric forum.

I agree with a_yaja,
We all came from H1B root. We pass that barrier and want to shut gate!!
This is not fare. Remember, when some people have opposed I 485 filling provision in Feb 15, many of our members hammered them with selfish label !
How come we suggest to stop H1B?
It is amusing to see that there are quite a few people who want the very door closed that they used to enter. It is even more amusing to see that the fault is always someone elses. It is similar to all the people who are opposed to immigration because it is someone elses fault that they are losing their job. Down right funny :p.
We need to focus on solving our problems without blaming others for our problems. Because once we go down that lane, we are no better than anyone from NumbersUSA or any other organization/ people who are against immigration. It is OK if we do not support increasing H1B - but saying that the H1B program needs to shutdown is not correct. I am sure that one can reason in the same breath that the EB3 category needs to be eliminated so that retrogression can truely be eliminated

The information, and guideline we got from you is going to help us a lot pappu... also many thanks to other chapter leaders who took time out and helped us learn the process.
Lets get going friends here at Michigan.....
we must fight this monster..... we must fight for our rights, and what is fair....
we must fight for our families and friends.....
Concentrate on the topics you want to discuss on, and bring more friends to the 20th meeting.....
I missed it, not aware of it, not sure why. I am glad to see this chapter grow. There was a time where we were searching for folks with torchlights. Thanks to Chintu, walking_dude, cagedcactus, bestin and all others who are now making this happen.
I have a very close friend in Michigan, and asked him to join, but he talks about all hardships, about his HR manager, about his company, about his lawyer, about everything except IV stuff. I am sure there are many more people here doing the same thing. We have to motivate folks to come forward. We cannot afford to have people who are inactive.
Good luck to you all, try to merge folks from nearby states if they are still not organized until they get organized.

I fully agree.
They may have some material education.
But Indian guys working here are third class fellows.
Arrogant, low tendencies, flase values etc.
They don't even mix with other Indians and think they are in Heaven or some thing.Don't worry if they loose their GCc.
These guys are unworthy of gettings GCs.
Best Regards
We are here talking about results of passiveness and highly critical need of activeness from members. And we have members from all countries. If you can contribute your ideas within the main theme of this thread than please do so otherwise stop this unnecessary ranting. It does not serve any purpose.
